Here's daily tip number four .
You've finished your meal. You followed my daily tips so far, which I know it's just three of them, but chewing and eating bitter foods, but you're still feeling bloated or having constipation or diarrhea all the time, or sometimes even both. You go to your doctor, you find out that you just have IBS and take a medicine to control the symptoms, and you're sent on your way.
When you have GI symptoms, it could be a signal that there's something else going on with your gut health and you might be thinking, well, duh, I could have figured that out, but hear me out.
Here are some specifics of what could be going on and why it's important to pay attention. You could have low stomach acid that might affect your ability to [00:01:00] digest proteins. Your other digestive enzymes may not be functioning properly or being released appropriately, so you're not getting adequate digestion.
You may have something called intestinal permeability or leaky gut, which can affect absorption of your nutrients and can lead to an overactive immune system to where you get food sensitivities, food allergies.
You could have an imbalanced gut microbiome and there's more and more research being done on how important it is to have a healthy microbiome to prevent chronic diseases.
You could have slow motility because of all of these issues going on in your gut. So then if you are constipated, then that's not good for detoxification because your body is is constantly ~in ~reabsorbing substances from the stool as it passes through the large intestine, and so it could set you up for detox issues.
So it's really important that you have optimal gut health to have good health overall. ~So ~My daily habit challenge for you today is
to note [00:02:00] down how you're feeling after a meal. Do you feel bloated one hour after, two hours after? Because that can give us clues as to where you may have an issue with digestion, or do you just feel bloated all the time? And if you do, especially after eating some healthier foods that have higher fibers in it, then that might indicate that you may have something called sibo, which is.
short for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. So note down your symptoms that you may have after you eat a meal and what you've eaten. And even note like how much stress and sleep you had that day, and take that information to your functional medicine or integrated provider so that they can figure out what's going on and improve your gut health so that you will feel better overall.
If you have chronic GI symptoms, it's not necessarily something that you have to live with for the rest of your life. And if you really wanna improve your overall health improving your gut health is a must.
